Quand je suis avec les fidèles Je ne peux me contrôler et je finis toujours par condamner leurs mauvaises actions .
The old abbot thought a moment and then said to the distraught monk: "If you really don't think you are capable of controlling yourself, perhaps you should leave teaching and move to the desert and live as a hermit." Le vieil Abbé réfléchit un instant et dit au Moine inquiet : "Si réellement tu ne peux te contrôler , peut- être devrais-tu lâcher l'enseignement , te retirer dans le désert et vivre en ermite "
The monk was shocked by the Abbot's response. He replied, "That is a very extreme solution! Isn't there something else I can do?" Cette réponse choqua le Moine qui répliqua : " Quelle solution extrême ! N'y aurait-il pas autres chose à faire ? "
Abbot Mateus looked the monk in the eye, and said, "Yes, there is another solution. Admit to yourself that you have some faults and feelings of superiority. Next, you must forgive yourself for these faults and work over time to eliminate them. As part of that inner work, you must always forgive others for their faults, just as you have forgiven yourself." L'Abbé Mateus regarda le Moine dans les yeux et lui dit : " Si , il y a une autre solution. Admettre que tu as quelques défaults et un sentiment de supériorité. Ensuite te pardonner et travailler à les éliminer . Quant au travail intérieur tu devras toujours pardonner aux autres leurs erreurs comme tu l'as fait pour toi -même .
