La grenouille

The Power of Life and Death in the Tongue

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. All the other frogs gathered around the pit. When they saw how deep the pit was, they told the unfortunate frogs they would never get out. The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit. 

Une bande de grenouilles voyageait à travers bois lorsque deux d'entre elles tombèrent dans un trou profond. Toutes les autres grenouilles se rassemblèrent autour du trou.Quand elles virent qu'il était si profond, elles dirent aux infortunées grenouilles qu'elle ne pourraient  jamais en sortir. Les deux grenouilles ignorèrent les commentaires  et tentèrent de sauter hors du trou.

The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and simply gave up. He fell down and died.

Les autres grenouilles leur répétaient de s'arrêter : elles étaient déjà mortes . Finalement une des grenouilles en tint compte et laissa tout simplement tomber : elle s'étendit et mourut 

The remaining frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and suffering and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs asked him, "Why did you continue jumping. Didn't you hear us?"

La grenouille restante continua à sauter aussi fort qu'elle pouvait . Une fois de plus le choeur des grenouilles lui enjoignit d'arrêter de souffrir et de se laisser mourir . Mais la grenouille sauta de plus en plus fort et finalement s'en sortit. Les autres grenouilles lui demandèrent : " Mais pourquoi as-tu continué de sauter? Ne nous entendais-tu pas? " 

The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.
La grenouille expliqua qu'elle était sourde et qu'elle pensait pendant tout ce temps être encouragée .
